We start the unforgettable e-bike tour in Camacha, which lies at approx. 800 m above sea level and takes you up to a maximum of 1000 m. This tour leads along the impressive levadas on the southern side of the island and offers breathtaking views and a unique nature experience.

The tour is ideal for beginners and families with children (from 150 cm tall) and is perfect as a day trip. Whether you want to explore the beauty of the surroundings or simply enjoy a beautiful day in nature, this e-bike tour is the perfect choice!

Please note that at least two people are required to complete the tour. Around 60% of the route is on off-road trails, which makes the experience even more exciting.

From our bike station in Funchal, we take the minibus up into the mountains. The first part of the tour leads comfortably downhill on wide roads and dirt tracks. Depending on the group’s skill level, we can also include a few easy single trails in the morning. We follow the picturesque levadas and, after about 10 kilometres, take a break where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the coast. 
 

After the break, the route continues downhill on unpaved paths towards sea level. The tour ends on the old regional road that runs along the coast to Machico.

From our shop in Funchal, we take the van to the starting point at Fonte do Bispo at about 1,241 metres above sea level. In the first part of the tour, we can choose between gravel and dirt roads or head straight into the single trails. 
In this area, there are repeated spectacular views of the island’s west coast and the North Atlantic. After around 30 kilometres, we reach the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo, which was put into operation in 1922 and stands on a 290-metre-high cliff at the westernmost point of the island.

On this tour you ride on easy single trails (green-marked) and also off-road. Parts of the route follow the levadas. It is suitable for people who already have some initial experience off-road; complete beginners may find this tour too demanding. 
 

For anyone sitting on an e-bike for the first time, we recommend our “E-Bike Experience” tour instead.

This is the tour for people who already have experience in mountain biking. You will spend the day riding blue and red trails. From the bike station in Funchal, we take a minibus up into the mountains. In the morning, we start with easy single trails so that you can get used to the terrain and the gradients of our trails. Trail by trail, we will build up your skills and always show you the very best that Madeira has to offer: amazing views, great trails, and a fantastic experience from the beginning to the end of the day

From the bike station in Funchal, we cycle along the Estrada Monumental (hotel district) to Câmara de Lobos, passing various historical and scenic highlights. In Câmara de Lobos, the island’s fishing village and home of the espada fishermen with their special deep-sea fishing equipment, we visit the boatyard and take a break in the picturesque alleys of the old town. 
 

From Câmara de Lobos, we follow the regional road towards Funchal harbour, ride along the port road and continue into the old town of Santa Maria Maior. From there, we climb up the old regional road “Rua Conde do Carvalhal” to Cancela. 

At the “Miradouro das Neves” viewpoint, we enjoy the impressive view over Funchal’s bay and then continue on to Garajau. At the Cristo Rei statue in Garajau, which stands on a headland similar to the famous statue in Rio de Janeiro, we can take the cable car down to the beach and have an extended break there. 

The final section then follows old regional roads back down into the city of Funchal.
