Unfortunately, everything beautiful comes to an end at some point and our driver will bring you back to the airport.
But one thing is for sure: after getting to know Madeira in this unique way by bike, you will have fallen in love with the island and we will surely see each other again soon.
The daily stages are between 40km and 65km long. That's not a lot, but not that little due to the altitude difference and you should have time to enjoy the landscape. You should always have your camera to hand, behind every bend a new, breathtaking view awaits you and the small towns along the way invite you to take a short or long stop.
From Funchal it goes along the south coast to the east of the island, to Machico, the oldest city of Madeira. Here you can stroll along the promenade in the evening, explore the small old town with its pubs and restaurants or relax on the sandy beach from the first stage.
The next day it goes along the east coast to Santana, the place with the typical Madeira houses. But the place has a lot more to offer. In the theme park you can learn a lot about the island of Madeira. Are you adventurous? Then take the cable car to the "Rocha do Navio" nature reserve, a secluded stretch of beach where farmers laboriously work their fields.
The landscape is changing now. You reach the wild and romantic north coast of Madeira. Via the picturesque town of Sao Vicente, where a visit to the car-free old town is worthwhile, you come to Porto Moniz. One of the highlights of Madeira. The natural lava pools are a must for any Madeira vacation and you should definitely take a dip here.
After breakfast we go up to the Paul da Serra plateau. Here you cycle above the laurel forests of Rabaçal through a landscape that is very reminiscent of Ireland. Above all, because of the many cows that stand here again and again in the middle of the paths or graze peacefully on the edge. You cross the entire island once and reach the town of Calheta in the southwest, which invites you to relax with its marina and the great sandy beach.
Now it's always back to Funchal along the south coast. Essential stops on the way are the Anjos waterfall in Ponta do Sol, the glass skywalk from Cabo Girao, the second highest cliff in the world and the fishing village Camara de Lobos, which Winston Churchell made famous with his pictures. An absolute must here is the island's national drink: the poncha.
On the last day you are spoiled for choice. Would you like to go on a bike tour and explore the interior, the second highest mountain on the island or the basket weaving town of Camacha, or would you prefer to stroll through Funchal? The old town, the market hall, the cathedral? You have never seen dolphins and whales, in Funchal you have the opportunity on a great boat tour. Or would you prefer to relax by the hotel pool? If you feel like doing all of this - no problem, you can also book an extension week through us.
